After you mix it up it's good for at least 7 days, too, which is quite handy.
I mix up a gallon inside a dry bag, dump in the bits, and agitate well. Let it sit for 10 minutes then drain, rinse, and dry. The dry bag is sealed up and I'm good to go for the next day.
Careful when measuring out the power form, inhaling the dust can be quite harmful. Treat it like the dust from sorb.
I also use the veterinary form, Virkon S, since my cousin the veterinary pharmaceuticals rep assures me it's the same chemical as the human version, just significantly cheaper.
