Re: Pick Two!

Hi all -

This is my first post here, but I wanted to jump in because this thread could partly about about "pick one" - what goes into choosing a rebreather? Since I'm new to rebreather diving, I've spent a lot of time researching and asking questions before finally making my choice.

Dave, the questions I'd ask myself (and did ask myself) include:

What do I want to do with this rig (deep, long, both, wrecks, caves, etc)?
How long am I willing to wait for it/when do I need it?
How is the rig engineered (design features, does this support ques #1)?
How many man hours are on it (is it new, tried and tested, any independent testing)?
What design features are really most important to me for 1) safety and 2) the diving I intend to do with it?
What is the support like (ease of getting parts, other divers using it)?
Do I plan to travel with it frequently?

Depending on how you rank the order of importance of these questions, you will definitely include some rigs and exclude others.

Cheers,
Heather Knowles
