Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the Movie Megs use the ExtendAir cartridge from Micropore. The reasoning behind using it was that changing them is a lot quicker than changing absorbant pellets, and in the movie biz time is big money.

Sizewise the cannister is between the Meg's standard and MiniMeg cannisters, the olive drab unit dubbed 'Leon's Meg' on ISC's website features it.

Also, Advanced Diver Magazine has an article about the movie, and one of the stunt divers was Matt from ProTech in Mexico. If he's any indication, they used experienced cavers and CCR divers for the UW scenes, not average stuntmen. Matt portfolio includes plenty of cave explorations in FL, Mexico and Belize, he was a member of the USDCT at Wakulla II and is a CCR/cave instructor.
