All of the "new" Rebreather units are looking just about the same as each other. The only difference is how to add O2, and that's even copying from either the KISS (mCCR) or YBOD (soenoid) per-say.

Ergonomics has always been an issue with me but I rarely see it high on a designer's list of things to do.
Rebreather-80 clone? You imply they were the first to design that type of rebreather, I believe you are very much mistaken.
