Re: Shearwater Pursuit versus VR3

Hi All,

I have just purchased a Shearwater Pursuit to use as a backup decompression computer and oxygen cell monitor for an Evolution. Using the Narked at 90 conversion kit, it has all gone together very smoothly and very tidily. I must say that I am very impressed with the Shearwater Pursuit and the Narked at 90 conversion kit. Good job, guys!

In parallel with this, I have bought one of Jason's Subsea Systems DS-1 wrist display and HUD for a Sport KISS. Another very good product and another satisfied customer.

The DS-1 comes with the option of fitting a VR3 computer as a backup display...but this will only show one cell, not three cells. This made me think, why not connect the Shearwater Pursuit to the DS-1 instead of the VR3? I have decided to do this.

Has anyone carried out a comparison of the Shearwater Pursuit against the VR3 ? Some things are obvious but quite trivial. You can see a profile of the dive on the display of the VR3... and you can play a simple videogame during the decompression stop ... if you really want to do this. Both allow you to download the dive profile and see it on a PC screen. Are there any significant differences? The method of inputting a decompression safety factor is different ... but will this really matter very much on a real dive?

Surely this thread has already been discussed ... but I could not see it in the archives.

Not being a VR3er, are you saying that when plugged into DS-1, the pursuit shows all 3 cells?

Good topic by the way
