We had no problems with SpheraSorb earlier this year - even taking some 1kg pouches in our coat pockets.
I wouldn't rely on the smile and turn up early approaches, Natasha and I got stuffed for an extra £320 going to Sharm in February this year. I think the check-in staff for Monarch and other charter airlines have been told to enforce the regulations / screw you for as much as they can and it'll be between £6 and £8 per extra kilo.

No, dont think so Brittannia was £60 for 15kgs + 5kgs free last time I went with them.

trouble is they all change their minds like the bloody wind and what the airline says is not what happens at the check-in.
