I think cedric’s article mentioned above summarizes pretty well the advantages

As for the Solenoid stuck open scenario, the way I practice it is un plug the QC4 quick connection and run the unit via the manual O2 addition inflator leaving the O2 tank open.
To unplug the QC4 can be really a pain as it is in a bad position – but you only need to do it once

ever thought of having a shut off valve on the solenoid hose? i keep thinking about this one all the time. haven't decided yet. like to hear other opinions about this as well.

i mostly dive manually so only use the solenoid once or twice for short periods of time mainly for keeping it in good condition.

i thought that there would have been many responses to this, but it seems that not many share the same opinion to us... i guess time will tell.
