I am half fearful to do it to my complete Ray, but has anyone gone in and cut out all the foam, perhaps replacing it with simple plastic sheet?
I wonder what sort of differece that would make. I'd imagine a pretty big one, as you have the foam across the top, all round the scrubber and in the flap that comes from underneath the tank. I will only do it once I resolve that I will never need to sell the Ray.

Hmm, now I think about it, I'll get the scissors out at the weekend!
