Why Electronic CCR's? Why Dive Computers? Why any convenience item that makes diving easier?

It's not to say that divers can't climb a ladder, but the lift idea sure looks like it's a great way to get back on a boat with a heavy load of crap on your back and hooked all over your body. Climbing a ladder in rough seas is a pain in the butt. Why not have a better way of doing it?
