I've torn mine apart a couple times, and it is good that you checked for leaks.
As mentioned above, tighten a bit more carefully, using correct size wrenches until the leak goes away. A bit of teflon doesn't harm or risk either (if your careful not to let litttle bits of stuff into the pipes).
