Thanks. There were several reasons actually

The first was a desire to get the canister closer to my back. The new frame brings it about 1" closer to me by eliminating the stock aluminum frame. This changes the center of gravity and makes me feel more integrated with the unit.

Second was to allow for easier absorbent swaps. The typical frame doesn't allow the unit to be free standing when the canister is removed.

Third was a desire to eliminate some stuff that I felt was a little unnecessary. By switching to a valves up configuration and switching the O2 from right to left I eliminated the manifold, a stainless steel hose, and a couple of Swagelock connectors that came stock with the unit.

Fourth was a desire to mount different size bottles. The stock frame just didn't seem sturdy enough to back mount bailout. There is a pretty good chance I'll be taking the unit into caves and I'd like to have the option of back mounting rather than bail out hung as stage bottles (not sure that I'll like it back mounted but want to have the option).

Fifth was a need to add another bottle for inflation gas. I know I could have gone the argon bottle type mount but kind of prefer the horizontal mounting under the unit that this frame allows.

Sixth was to add a little weight since I dive dry 99% of the time. Yeah, yeah I know one of the greatest things about RBs is the weight savings but, to tell you the truth, the weight of big doubles never really bothered me. Switching to an Rebreather was more about the logistics of using OC in a bunch of the diving I do than it was about weight.

There were a few other reasons involved but were minor enough that I can't recall them right now.
