The rEVO example is a good one, there are 98 members claiming that they currently own a rEVO (keep in mind that’s it a new unit so few have been sold or hang in the garage) that is very reasonable in relation to the 124 sold as stated by paul
a quick look on the search list on Rebreather World shows that this is not so bad: of the 98 I think only 5 don't dive/own a unit at the moment
but as you state, you can not use the % registered versus sold for units longer in use
