Re: Sodasorb HP - 4/8 Mesh

A budy of mine pointed out that Oxycheq sells their Sodasorb HP - 4/8 Mesh for $85. Even with shipping it's quite a bit less expensive than other alternatives. I've never used it on my Dolphin. I've only used the Dräger Sorb and Sofnolime 408.

Oxycheq's web site claims that "Laboratory tests have proven Sodasorb HP to be fully effective 2-3 times as long as other absorbents." How true is this? Has anybody dove their Dolphin for 6 hours on a single cannister of Sodasorb?

What is the WOB like compared to Dräger or Sofnolime?

How about dust and channeling?

Thanks.
I use it in my KISS. It is not too dusty. Just blow a fan over the scrubber as you load it. I have no channeling problems, just pack it tight. As far as WOB it will not breath harder than the smaller stuff & should be easier if anything.
6 hours on a dolphine? I wouldn't, it is good sorb but it is also larger grain so less surface area of sorb in the scrubber. What I can tell you is 4-8 Soda sorb is what is used in Commercial dive Sat operations in the Gulf Of Mexico. It is used in the bell scrubbers & the deck chambers. Part of the reason Oxycheq can get it so cheap is the volume used by the Commercial dive industry brings the price down. It is in no way a inferior product & I would not hesitate to use it.
