Steve,
for oxygen consumption (not general RMV) most of us use lpm as that is pretty much standard with the administration of medical gases.. for low flow rate most of the flow meters are all in liters per minute... we are all taught metabolic consumtion and dosages in liters per minute or cc.. so its not out of place here..
its much easier to rember 1lpm as oposed to .035cu ft per min
