First Sentinel Course in Scandinavia (Nortech diving in Denmark)

I ordered a Sentinel in October 2007, when it was presented on dive shows for the first time. I first had a Inspiration Vision for about a year and I did Mod1 + Mod2(Normoix Trimix) on this unit. I then switch to Megalodon 1˝ year ago and did my Mod3(Full trimix) on the Meg. But I was missing some electronic features on the Meg, the I had on the Inspo Vision. So this is the reason for the change to Sentinel, besides the fact, that in my opinion, the Oroburos is the leading rebreather on the market J

When back to the course with Nortech Diving DK and Rasmus Lauritsen.
We were doing the course at the same time the course in the RedSea was going on, so Kevin, Al, and Phil from CCRB was in Egypt. And the production of the units for the RedSea trip had 1. priority. This meant, the our units was send a bit late from UK to DK, meaning I had to pick the units up at DHL express, so we should started with course as early as possible, due to the fact, that I’m on my way to Truk Lagoon with a group of CCR guys JJJ (I’m on the way right nowJ)

Short outline of the course:
The course was a Mixed course: 1 Oroborus (Diver(First CCR)), 1 Megalodon (Diver), 1 Megalodon (Instructor), 1 Sentinel (Diver (Me))

1. Day: Pool training + theory
The unit worked very well in the water, I think, as I was used to over the shoulder counterlungs – even better than expected.

2. Day: Open water training
The conditions were very bad with very bad visibility, so we try to dive different places, but the conditions vas the same.

3. Day: Pool and open water training
After the very bad conditions in open water, we went back to the pool, to practice some more skills, as this was a more controllable environment J
After that we went back in to the open water again, conditions was a little better, but still not god, but we completed the training.

4. Day: Open water training + Exam
The conditions were not better, but we completed the training.

5. Day: Open water training(+30m dive)
The conditions were good.

The Sentinel is very good in the water, but it has some “smaller” issues mostly above the water, as it is a new rebreather in the hands of end users, as with other new stuff on the market. But all of these “smaller” issues is already being fixed by CCRB, as they, ofcourse, has a lot of focus on this – very good service J

I can recommend Nortech Diving DK as a good CCR training facility, as Rasmus Lauritsen is very competent CCR instructor that has a lot of CCR knowledge.

But now I will end this report, as I’m on my way to Truk, to dive my new Sentinel for 2 weeks on 2. Worldwar wrecks…
(30 deg water on the surface and on 70m and super visibility, must be better than 5 deg water with 1-5m visibility )

Best regards
Peter
