Age of "purchased new" cells?

Hi All,

(Apologies this debate has been had in various formats previously but my question is hopefully slightly different, if not can somene direct me to the correct thread as I really can't find it)

Firstly I'll accept that cells have a shelf life unopened and are then "supposed" to last 12-18months once opened (yeah right!)

But how old (since manufacture) is it acceptable for cells to be when they arrive in the post, sold as "new" from the supplier?

I have just bought 4x R22-2 BUD cells, date coded E7 (May 2007 I believe?)
Its currently April 08 so these cells are a year old.... is that reasonable, usual for "new" cells?

I'm afraid to admit I didn't make not of the age of previous cells

Acceptable or should I ask for "new" cells?

PS- I'm reluctant to open the bags and check output until I clear this up and yes, I did mail the supplier directly...
