Errrrrr ? was this me
If so i don't mind you saying so. Incidents should be shared and discussed and not hidden in a closet.
Its exactly what happened to me on the cave course. Patric taped me on the head I open my eyes, checked my unit and was on 0.20. A real eyeopener in terms of being too focused on the drill and not enough on the dive.
Ironically we had briefly discussed this before the incident and I said if I couldn't asses my PP02 id go OC or SCR till I could. And that exactly what I would do on a "normal dive".
HOWEVER, After this incident I made another decision: We were air dill and max 14m so i decided on a plan B which was to count then blindly inject.
Owing to the fact we were on a course and I needed my bailout tin for the next dive (no refills avbl) I felt it necessary to attempt the blind injection option.
I practiced blind injection with the HUDD turned away so I couldent see it and checking on my hand set. It seemed OK and I did this on the blind exits after the event. I felt the risk of 02 tox at 14m and getting shallower, was minimal compared to the risk of going hypoxic.
If i was exiting from a depth where blind 02 injection carried significant risk of tox id go SCR or OC. I carry the bailout and ill use it. Id expect to get to an area of improved viz and be able to go back on loop.
More importantly the only way i could fail to see my HUD was to have my eyes closed. The viz would have to be truly appalling for you to not see the HUD.
Ignore the date I hadent re set it after putting a new battery in.
