I could be mistaken, but I believe the 5 minute pre-breathe on units is primarily for colder climes. If you are diving in warm climates then activating the chemical reaction in the scrubber shouldn't take very long and I imagine 1 or two minutes would be sufficient.

Can someone with better chemical knowledge than I correct me if I am mistaken?
