Hello Spyros,
I maintain a collection of marine sponges collected sub 80meters and from ocean cave systems. Our working group has the means to do taxonomy and screen extracts from the specimens, but we are not doing any genetics or genomics work at the moment.
To-date, we have identified several promising leads for selective anti-microbials and anti-virals, and are conducting screening assays on advanced fractions. We also have a number of samples exhibiting selective cytotoxic properties, however not for cancer cell lines specifically just yet.
The website for our project is
origin, discovery for life. If you'd like to chat more aabout our work, PM me or e-mail me at
explore@oceanopportunity.com. I am looking for collaborators to participate in researach from this collection to expedite the discovery process.
Kind regards
Mike
PS-to anyone out there reading this post that may be interested in providing specimens, please do get in touch...lots of hoops to jump through to ensure that biodiversity ethics are met properly, but there is great potential for discovery out there.
