| Re: Homemade CK head weight You can do what I used to do when I was making my own weights for teaching. Go to the local fishing hole jump in and start picking up lead. Rivers work best because the fisherman need more weight to get the lure down in the current. It also helps a lot if you have someone on a boat above you so you can load up your bag, head to the surface and tie a rope to it, then they haul it up. In a one tank dive my dive buddy and me would bring in around 70lbs of lead or more. We did this several weeks apart and in different areas of the fishing hole so there was always lead available.
Just be careful because the local fisherman can get really angery if you ruin their day of fishing. We used an old US Fish and Wildlife boat we bought at an auction and just told everyone we were with them. They instantly become your best friend. It also smooths things over when you hand them a whole bunch of lures, anchors or anything else useful you find at the bottom. It's fun and sounds like you can make around $400 with this tactic.
Your other option is to go to the fishing supply store and try and find lead pellets. Usually around $1-$2/lb. But that will cut into profits. |
