| Re: Laser corrective eye surgey and diving? Depending on your level of nearsightedness (-diopter) Your FOV with a prescription mask is superior to someone with 20/20 and the same mask.
I am roughly a -7.0 and have dived contacts as well as a prescription mask. the difference is amazing. By my calculations the standard 25% magnification is eliminated with my optical mask. Funny thing is I'd love to do the surgery but being nearsighted and corrected underwater is enough of a visual advantage I'm willing to put up with glasses on the surface. Granted I don't have the FOV of the Hydro optics bug mask but it's still better than normal. I guess my point is be aware that your FOV will decrease when you are corrected and no longer have lenses in your mask. This effect is only valid for myopic people with corrective masks and increases with the power of your diopter. |
