I think that you will find this very similar to what you saw at EUDI 2008-

The additional O2 inflator hose (optional) that you saw is most likely for O2 injection at depths beyond where the standard fixed IP O2 1st stage will function properly. I've seen this effectively done by either adding a redundant depth compensated 1st stage to a H-valve on the primary O2 cylinder or to a completely redundant O2 cylinder such as a small volume cylinder mounted to the can, BP, etc... or by way of a O2 stage bottle carried under the arm. The O2 reg is then attached to the MAV of choice via a standard inflator hose. My understanding is that this particular unit was built for operating at sub 200m. That would explain the reduncancy on O2 injection and the need for a radial scrubber.
