Greetings.
I found this site on a search while researching rebreathers. I have been a certified diver since 2003 diving exclusively cold water. (Have done many uncertified dives in Florida and Australia as far back as 1995) I started thinking about rebreathers, during a real cold, real deep dive Christmas time in the San Juan islands. My partner and I were the only OC divers on the boat. Everyone else was on Drager Dolphins. Six months later I dove the dolphin and loved it (except sucking spit).
A bit ago, I was in a dive shop and I saw a rebreather sitting on the floor, I asked the dive shop owner about it. He said it was special. Only 8 in existence and it could go to 1100fsw.. I thought to myself... "Oh, Great.. A Kevorkian box"
Looking for a nice alternative to a Drager (CCR not SCR) and not a Kevorkian box started me on the path I am now.
I decided at the start of this year, that I would be getting a rebreather to extend my bottom times, possibly increase my depth, and to increase the safety of the dives. Since then, I have lurked here and elsewhere looking at every possible rebreather (and even thought about making my own) deciding which features I like and which ones I don't. Currently I think that for me a progression from mCCR to eCCR is the best bet. Start off at the mCCR, Learn it, get used to managing gas. Then if needed move to an eCCR if I find something the mCCR won't do. The main three Rebreathers I am tossing around at this instant is the Meg, rEvo, and KISS. The rEvo and Meg support upgrading to an eCCR. The KISS being Stupidly simple with support in my local area.
Anyhow.. If you see me lurking.. You know who I am now.

Welcome to the forum. Good to see a well reseached decision prior to buying a Rebreather. You mentioned the KISS support, you do realize the meg factory is an hour down the road from you right? There is also a very capable instructor in your home town, Ron Micjan on this board.
You would also probably be able to pull into the meg factory and talk to the staff. You can contact them through
and arrange a visit.
Hope to hear more fom you soon.
