I am partial to totes as well (or the big rubbermaid boxes), but if you are looking for a light bag that is travel freindly, check out the Osprey 'space station'. I was recently provided their 140 cublic liter version for a gear review. The thing is HUGE, so I'm sure I'm capable of going over my weight allowance while flying, but for the size of the bag it only weights 11 pounds, and I guarantee it'll hold your rig and all of your clothes. It's suported by an aluminum frame much like backpackers frames and has wheels:

Space Station 140 by Osprey and other Wheeled Duffels backpacks.
