I cleaned the bladder with the unit disassembled. 
Smaller, less weight, easier to handle. 
If you're worried about getting the sensors/loom wet bit a shower cap over the head. 
Sooner or later you'll want a normal bp(or soft harness) / wing setup anyway,
then removing the bladder is only two screws away.
