I doubt few if anyone that has a MK15.5 is sitting on a machine that needs to be 'completely' rebuilt.
The only thing that cant easily be DIYd is the electronics - and they can be repaired by Kevin or replaced with a HH (Just like you are thinking of doing on your inspiration

) The rest is just Swagelock.
Im sure when it comes to the far more common (hundereds made) MK15 that yes, quite likely there are many out there in terrible condition (man I have seen some real dogs!) - but remember many of these are decades older and only a handfull of MK15.5s were made (20 or so I believe)
There are Inspirations out there that were made BEFORE my MK15.5 - so dont assume they are all old units that are falling to pieces
For me the open concept of the engineering means I can carry out field repairs so I have more confidence when away on an expedition that Im going to be able to repair and get it diveable myself.
