When in doubt you could still use it SCR at depth and CCR once you go up or have to work less hard.
I just wonder if you need to have the black case at all. In a normal diving position your body and a simple strap should be able to restrain the lungs. I'm curious now and will try in the swimming pool ...
It reminds me of the original Jetsam canvas? soft case idea but now turned into a front mount device.
I've certainly had my SK deeper than its rating, and for a bailout, you would not be at depth for very long at all. I like the case because it keeps everything well protected. I don't think a canvas or soft case would be any smaller.
