Ok this is on behalf of a friend who is thinking of getting a ccr .
He does dives to 60m maximum & hasn't decided on eccr or mccr although he is leaning towards eccr BUT I only have limited experience & only with my Vision .
This is not a question of which ccr should he buy etc but more which one will survive a backward roll entry the unreasonable height off of a hard boat !
He has very limited strength/movement of his legs on dry land but enough for finning underwater hence the need to roll in .

So which would survive this constant type of entry ?
I dive the Pelagian and believe it may fit the bill. It is an MCCR with no complex electronics to get bashed. It is very light compaired to other CCR's and the counter-lungs are on the chest so they do not get compressed on impact. It is also relatively cheap at about GBP3k. Check it out at: Pelagian Diver Controlled Closed Circuit Rebreather.

I am very happy with my unit and have done back-roll entries off high sided hard boats without any issues.

Regards,

Carl
