So...... what does any of this cylinder paint discomfort have to do with Dave's rebreather design, which has a *very* tenuous association with OMS? Let me get this straight: Your Faber steel cylinders look crappy after you took them in salt water and that affects a rebreather designed by someone else that was displayed in the same booth?
So.... Your cylinders are ugly. *All* painted cylinders get ugly eventually. Some sooner than others. Get over it, or stick to galvanized with no paint.
Having been an OMS dealer for years, and having them be a local business, let me say this: Cylinders are a loss leader for both distributor and dive shop. Nobody makes more than a few bucks on them... and nobody is going to give anyone a free one when they rust. My old orange 13's and 19's had shitty paint on them. A little sandpaper, a string to hang them by the neck and a spray paint can fixed that.
Back to rebreathers now? And betting dollars to donuts, if this rig ever comes to market, it'll not be sold by OMS...
