That's the way I see this battery issue.

If it lasts for half the claimed time (five years versus ten), the hardware will start being obsolete. By that time, there will be something newer, better out there that will want to trade our old X1 for. Maybe it will be the X11 or some other computer who knows.

How many of you REALLY think that their rebreather will last forever as it is now? Why would you expect that of your computer?

Look at the first versions of the VR3 versus today’s version? What is still up to date in that older computer, the casing?
