I wasn't sure where to put this..but I think here will do because I travelled and then dove a CCR. So I think that qualifies.
I contacted Divers Cove out of NE Ohio last Thursday and my email was promptly returned by Sean with a phone call. I asked to setup a rebreather demo on either the Insp/Evolution and me being the impatient person I am asked if it was possible for this weekend.

To make a not so long story shorter...I was setup for the demo on Sunday the 9th. I was very impressed on how quick Sean got it scheduled and ensured a unit was available for me.
So I made the 5.5 hour drive to Twinsburg, OH on Saturday so I wouldnt be soo tired for the demo. Nothing much exciting on the way there except Indiana has these animal sensors on the side of the highway that alerts drivers if animals are near the road. I thought that was pretty neat...but I didnt see any Sasquatch...although when I went out for a few drinks that night I saw some women that could have passed for Sasquatch.
Ok so anyway...I arrive at the Dive Shop and I meet Sean and then Joel Stoffa (the instructor) who brought an Inspiration for him and an Evolution for me. We went over setting the unit up and then brought it to the local pool. Joel was very thorough explaining everything and answering my questions. After gearing up I did a pre-breathe and everything was good to go.
After we got my weighting squared away we gradually made our way down to the bottom which is around 14ft. I kneeled down and just got use to the breathing and watching the handset. After a minute or two I gave the BC a couple puffs of air and got neutral. I was very self-conscious about my buoyancy because even though I'm a newbie again that doesnt mean I want to look like one. I found it is extremely easy to get positive very fast..and wouldnt you know it...breathing out just doesnt help. I managed to keep it under control though so my ego is still in check.
I wont go into the other details of the experience except that I am extremely happy I made the drive. The pool time and instruction I received was well worth the 11 hour round trip. If anyone is considering rebreathers or just wants to try them out you should contact Sean at
