There are reefs, but not with the diversity of more tropical reefs. Tropical reefs support a fraction of the
biomass of these islands, however, and with that greater biomass in the Revillagigedos you get to see a higher rate of food chain turnover. Because the Pacific is now well into a La Nina southern oscillation weather pattern, you can expect the biomass this year to be greater than average. More westerly-flowing surface winds drives greater upwelling which provides more nutrients for the food chain. Expect the water to be a wee bit cooler as a result of that increased upwelling from the deep. The big animal action should be nothing other than outstanding in January.
