Why is that?
I'm guessing, when compared to say the traditional KISS handsets, each sensor had an independent cable feeding to an isolated display...

The original COPIS hadset appeared to have all three sensor feeds in a single bundle, but leading to three distinct read out panels... Loose a panel, the other two continue functioning... But they share a common housing, and appear to share a common cable...

This new design puts all three outputs in a single display panel. Loose the panel, and all three are gone... So the hud becomes the redundancy.
