I can't sit back and watch you guys have all of the fun. I am trying to get started with CCR diving before I transfer to James Cook University in Townsville, Queensland to major in marine biology! I will not let diving interfere with my schoolwork in anyway. Im just trying to have fun like you guys. I look up to you all.

If you are going to be transfering to Australia. You should do some more homework on what the divers are using over here and why, question is there anyone in Townsville who has a ccr you can dive with ?.

It's not cheap sending or receiving anything from UK or USA from this Country. There no one who can train you on those units in Australia should want to advance your level of training on them ie Trimix.

Please dont think I'm suggesting you should get what I have. I'm just using it as an example of why I have a Mk15.5 for many reasons, including It has the support I need for parts/service from Colkan and is only a few hours drive away from me. Sure my tanks are hard to replace but everything else I can get.

If I couldnt get a mk15.5 I would get a Inspo as much as I hate to say it, but because of its support in Aus and its all round abilly to dive most things in Aus.My mates are diving this weekend to 125m on a wreck on Inspo's.

I can also go diving with divers who also have 15.5 . I can draw on their knowledge exchange idea's. I can jump on dive boats in Sydney where there is no OC divers and one day that will be the case everywhere. Townsville is a different story Divers will want to know what it is, but you can alway travel south in term break.

The Inspo,Kiss,rEvo,Meg also has excellent support in this country. As for a CIS or Ouroboros nice units but I dont think anyone has one over here. Or you could wait for the Eagle CCR to be released from Colkan in Australia.

So if there is a problem with the units you want you could be out of the water for months with the long wait for the post man to bring parts and you will need to be mechanically minded. You could alway buy a Meg and put a CIS scrubber in it as far as I know. Meg are base in WA for Australia if the others you dont like.

Only you can decide what you want to buy.

But I think from what I have readed of this thread most people have said "Get something else" you will not need one of those unit. especially in Townsville.

Most of us on Rebreather World have been 5 and 30 years tech diving under our belts. Me its 20 years with 16 of them deep diving since I did my openwater course at 17 year old.

Yes in those days the guys on tv had mk15's. I have only just brought my first unit, have used other peoples units in the past 7 years even done a course on them.

you said "Im just trying to have fun like you guys. I look up to you all"

Then Listen to what they are all saying even if you dont want to hear it. Yes get a CCR but learn to craw before you can walk is what my instructor told me. there is units for crawing and there is units for walking.

Welcome to rebreather world.
