You present a valid point, but hey I'm just an 18 year old who has done his homework on CCR's. What are the accident stats on the Boris? i know the Inspo. is about as safe as walking through Ethipoia with a bag of rice attached to you. The Meg. has a fairly safe record, and The CIS has 4 known incidents, possibly five, so for 10 years of diving that ia a pretty awesome track record. Please respond.
not worth the pissing match, but you sound like an 18 year old with his head in the clouds of some fantasy, not one that has done his homework. My experience? over 200 hours on an Inspo dating back to 2003, another 200 or so on a CCR2000, and I just built my own rig, not to mention more than 1300 hours spent underwater, as I dive almost every day as a contract commercial and scientific diver. I was also the Dive Officer for a NOAA facility for a period of time, and have dived the Antarctic.
So, once you do your real 'homework' aside from flipping through Nat Geo and the Discovery Channel, you will realize that those folks on Ice island: currently dive Megs, most of the Wakulla 2 folks: currently mostly dive Megs, BBC folks: mostly dive Inspo's, Howard Hall and company: 15.5's, those filimg the Cave: Megs. As for Rich, who I have corresponded with..well, if I had that much time and money invested into one particular unit, I'd stick with it too.
If you are looking for a first unit:
rEvo
Inspiration/Evolution
Meg/Copis
KISS
convert a Dolphin and learn a TON in the process
Mk6..maybe?
all are as capable as the hands that they fall into. At 18, I doubt you are ready for an expedition caliber unit....or a unit at all...go get your feet wet kiddo
I'm signing off...no need to argue or be insulted
