OK, so now that I have like 8 dives on my new Meg I decided I know everything and I should modify my counterlungs
Well, I think this sounds worse than it is but you'll be the judge
I basically removed all but the outer-middle stock velcro straps (which I use to hold backup lights) and attached 3/4" velcro strips along the straight edge on the inboard side of the C/Ls as seen in the photos.
The idea is to streamline by hiding the SPG hoses inside the velcro and at the same time reduce the C/L volume by some 25% or so. I dived it and the volume is large enough for well over a very deep breath starting with the lungs at ambient pressure (for my tidal volume).
Restricting C/L volume was one of my concerns as I did this so in a pinch all I would have to do is grab the SPGs and pull them up or forward and the velcro will split over its entire length releasing the C/Ls to their original volume. I hardly think this will be ever needed but who knows? The other solution to this is well known and consists of hard-stitching the inboard edges together but you can't use that space anymore (for SPG).
I have no idea if this has been already done before, I just figured others may benefit from this idea so here it is if you like it. I have no intention to sell this in any way, I just own a sewing machine and I'm not afraid to use it.
Cheers,
Tibby
