Re: The Pelagian Way

Hej Björn,

Lets see if I can clarify this a bit for you.

Hi Andy

I have some question about your 2 or 3 cells on the Pelagian. Where have you putt the cells (in the head)?

Andy: Yes, there are three cell sockets in the scubber head.

And is there room for 2 or 3 cells at the same space or do you have to use a VR3 for the 3;de cell.

Andy: The Pelagian's own display shows you 2 cell read outs. The reason it does not give you 3 read out's is because then you would have to connect a VR3 or other computer to one of the three cells. If the Pelagian display and the Vr3 would share one cell they would not be truly independent and if you would have a leak in the VR3 with a following short circuit between power and signal it could take the Pelagian display with it or at least affect the reading.

The reason i wonder is if you conect a shearwater to the pelagian then it would be hard to do that if there is only room for 2 cells.

Andy: You can connect the Shearwater to cell # three and thereby get two independent sources for PO2 info. I would not recommend you connect the Shearwater to all three cells as this would again kill the true redundancy between computer and Pelagian displays.

Also if there is space for 3 cells. Do you sell it with a 3 display like KISS (jetstream) do?

Andy: No. The main reason is that there are only space for two cable connections on the Pelagian head. If we offered a three cell display it would either have to share ground and battery or at most keep one cell totally isolated from the other two cells. As you see there would be little point in this. Another reason is that the Pelagian has instant cell validation which means it is very quick and easy to check the cells at regular intervals during the dive. With our current set up you can choose to connect a HUD, VR3, Shearwater or our upcoming single display and have better redundancy than most 3 cell systems.

And last are there any pictures on this things.

The attached picture should clarify i hope. If you send me an email I can send you many other pics with other parts and details.

All the best,

Andy
