there's a thread over at TPR now about the cost of running - I don't want to know how much I spent on computers in the last few years, although I'm guessing its cheaper than Rebreather diving as a hobby
I primarily crunch the Climate Prediction project and many a time have wondered about the effect I am having on the climate by running machines dedicated to the project. I think the project is aimed really at providing sufficient data to make the big producers, such as the US and the rapidly catching China (see
link here on coal mining) to look at the global effects of local/country economy decisions.
One day I'll get the device from Maplin that lets you monitor the leccy from a plug socket to see how much its using, but I think that would scare me too much
