It's a lot easier to take the lungs out to clean them, it;s a shame your training was lacking [I was the one cleaning my unit in my training and that's how it should be].

I don't sterilise my loop unless I have finished diving for a few days as it needs a thorough drying out. I drain the CL's and water trap and the hoses as far as possible and wash the valves and mouthpiece every day though.
