Hi Heather
I have been wanting to do the Oriskany since last year. I took my dive gear to DEMA last year because Tim Baum had a boat and we were going to make that long trip to dive on the Oriskany. Bad weather so never did make it. Speaking of that is there a better time of year to dive on the Oriskany?

Just wanted to make sure you knew how far it is (lots of people are amazed to find out that we are stuck way up here next to Alabama).

Our weather is much more stable mid-April through mid- October. Towards the middle of October we begin to have lots of fronts coming in, and though the air and water temps are still warm, it can be very windy. For the absolute best bet on weather, June, July and August (barring tropical systems) are the best.

I have 2 great 6 pack captains up here. Also, anyone planning to come up here en masse to do the O. needs to be aware that it is sort of "no man's land" for Rebreather's. I've helped a couple of traveling RB divers out with sorb, bottles and bailout bottles, as none of the shops up here stock or rent those items. We do have several shops that have mix and O2.
