I tried to dissasemble one of them and got snagged trying to remove the outer cover. I can get the base raised slightly all around the outside of it but it seems to be retained somewhere near the centre and is springy to the point where I stopped, not wanting to force it any further.
Any ideas?

Did you remove the valve from the counterlung?? If not STOP and wait for your instructor.. If you have gone this far you might as well finish..
Its a standard ds addition valve.. the top portion (stationary base and rotating section) seperate from the securing base inside the cl.. The top 2 plastic sections were not designed to be taken apart!
next take off the isc logo and use a 2.5mm allen key on the metal button on top and a 4mm allen key on the stem inside.. now unscrew and pop the button off.. Clean, metal parts, change o-rings and relube.. screw back together, the install back on the counterlung..
