Hi There

It seems that the zipper may be the answer...

BUT...

What glue was used?
Does it not give off dangerous gasses?

Most glues used in drysuit manufacture smell "chemical" for a looong time?

Thanx for the info though...

Regards

Johan
I used Viking glue and hardner. The stuff used to repair Viking Drysuits. Off gassing from the glue doesn't get into the CL because the zipper is mounted on the outside of the bag.

To overcome the frustration of the movement of the CL while trying to apply pressure when gluing, I did the following. (see the attached pictures)

1. I made a small cut about midway between where the ends of the zipper would be.

2. I placed a plastic bag into the CL and stuffed it full of "stuffing" material used in making kids dolls and Teddy Bears.

3. The slit wanted to spread open when the CL was stuffed full, so it was stitched together in order to glue on the zipper.

4. I laid on the zipper, outlined it with a pencil, mixed the glue and hardner and proceeded to put on several layers of glue.

5. Finally I put a couple of coats of glue on the zipper and put it in place. Since the CL was stuffed, I was able to use a roller to get the zipper firmly pressed down.

Hope this helps.

Hank
