Re: Diving with Pacemaker

Whilst the commentators above are quite correct in pointing out that it is often acceptable for patients with pacemakers to dive within a depth range acceptable to the manufacturers of their device, I would remind you that both the reasons for pacemaker insertion and the behaviour of the devices themselves are often very complex. The term "pacemaker" can mean many things, and some even refer to implantable defibrillators as "pacemakers". While it is OK to discuss the issue here, I strongly advise you not to consider it resolved on the basis of comments on an internet discussion forum. You should see an experienced diving physician, preferably who has an interest in this conundrum, for a careful appraisal of your risk.
