Re: Removing Clamps?????????

I was just thinking about removing the two clamps directly behind my wing on the MEG head. These clamps are hard to get on and off when my system is rigged up, and I was thinking that they won't matter.

So here I am asking the question, If I remove them will I have any problems with the head coming off or other problems I havent thought of yet?

Any feed back would be nice.

Thanks.
I’ve seen it done- and seen leaks head-to-can at depth on the rig. I chose not to do it, instead wrestling w/ the clamps in the then configuration. I’ve since moved on to my custom built minimalist carbon backplate/ stand that had, as one of many design goals, latch clearance as a requirement.

Depending on how big the interference is, you could file or Dremel off the inside corner of the latch handle a bit to greatly increase its clearance to your wing/ backplate/ whatever w/o causing any reduction in latch holding power. Just be sure to completely smooth out any sharp edges to prevent cutting your wing.

Good luck.
