Ohhh...you're just jealous!
I tend to listen to my mushroom valves more than I test them by squeezing the hoses. Actually, I think you are more likely to create a problem (especially with some DSVs) by putting excessive pressure on the mushroom valve. I have seen them push into the retaining frame and get stuck there when someone did a similar test (fortunately on dry land where it was more obvious what had happened).
I know guys who have Cooper hoses that are 10 years old and they are still solid. I like them because I think they are more solid for climbing around wrecks, but I could be wrong.
I would be interested in any stories of failures on them. Any idea how the hold was made in the Boris set?

I guess the fact you can't compress them easily rules out pinching your hose in water if checking a DSV mushroom valve or indeed doing that reverse o2 flush thingy Ron showed me lately. The Meg hoses are pretty tough as they stand so I question whether these would really be an upgrade.
