Many of you know me from ScubaBoard. I've been a longtime lurker on the rebreather forum there, and decided to pop in and sign up here, as my interest in rebreathers has grown. I don't know whether or not I'm ready for a rebreather. I'm sitting right around fifty dives, so I'm still very very new to scuba diving, but the more I see/hear/read about rebreathers, the more intrigued I am. I'm trying to see what's out there on the market and what the choices/options/complexities are in possibly a homebuilt unit. Nice to meet you all, and I'm looking forward to the interaction.

My best to you,
-Frank
There are 2 camps of thought when it comes to the number of hours one needs to have before they jump to rebreathers..... most will tell you 50 is a ZERO short of a good number... however I know people who have 5000 hours of OC and they have no business changing to rebreathers.. I belive the aptitude of the diver needs to be tested...as one can not simply go by the number of hours in the water...

some here will even argue in your favor... as there are certain OC skills that have to be "un learned" Cedric recently trained a diver that had only 20 hours in the water.

You will find this board is an amazing souce of information on rebreathers.. like trying to take a drink off a fire hose...

You will find that some people on this board are...shall we say passionate about there points of view

but we welcome you with open arms....
